Feb 2024 – in3 at Sheroes

Our team visited the Sheroes hangout and café on February 3 with our Vice President, Nick Brown.  Sheroes is set up by the Chhanv Foundation and is staffed by women who have been victims of acid attacks.  The organization aims to increase awareness of acid attacks and seeks to empower acid attack survivors.  Victims report that they have dealt with feelings of shame, ostracization, and trauma.

The Sheroes hangout and café provides a place of acceptance, support, and community—as well as a means of livelihood.  Some of the women are now the primary earners in their families.

The team had the opportunity to hear the story of one victim and was able to provide support to her and the Sheroes operation during our visit.
